Hello, I’m Mikopol. Today let’s talk a bit about some video game.

I’m quite interested in video games industry, even I don’t spend much free time playing games. Still I appreciate that kind of entertainment because of aspects of story, environment, gameplay etc. Over the years games became not only technologically advanced, but also they reached new level in storytelling, artistic visions, atmosphere or gameplay.

During exploring gallery of fellow artist incidentally I’ve got to know old Russian game called “Pathologic”.

“Pathologic” is a adventure game with some arcade elements. It tells a story of small town which population is decimated by some unknown lethal disease. A plot is expressed from point of view one of 3 playable characters, who try findorigin of plague and solve the riddle of many mysterious supernatural phenomenons.

As far I know from net “Pathologic” was forgotten in West because of such problems as poor graphics and translation. But it became a cult title thanks to the grim screenplay, soundtrack, atmosphere of death, decay and mystery and very expanded dialogues, full of philosophical tropes.

After all it looks that “Pathologic” is a very interesting game worth of knowing.

Hello, I'm Mikopol. I'm painting, so You can watch it.

Hello Folks!

First of All – it's still a January, so I wish You All many happiness in year 2012. Let's hope we won't be forced to taking care with any disaster which – could – destroy – entire – civilization and future will be a better place to exist.

I'd like to act a bit selfish and write about my arts. Specially, write about my doubts. I'm drawing and painting for many, many years. There had to be some progress, little by little. Still, I think my progress is still too slow. I think I could do much better pictures If I practice more.
I decide to ask anyone who would read that journal what I'm doing good, and could I do better.
For example:

Do You like characters in my pictures? Still characters are a problem to me. Many of them looks inflexible, like some mannequins. I watched  some chara drawing tutorials, I had practices on drawing courses, sometimes I sketch people on the street. Yet still my characters don't look too good and some of You have notice that fact.

Probably characters and living beings are my weakest point…  

And by the way – what do You think about the cats? Do You like cats/other animals acting like humans? Or maybe it's time to grow up and drawing real humans instead?
I think after few years I'm using watercolors with quite good effect. In other hands, maybe still made some poor faults?

Many times I complain a quality of scans. I've had a scanner few years ago but it broke. It wasn't too good, anyway. Since that time I'm scanning my works in graphic studios and they doing their job good. Before posting I modify picture a bit, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right. If You think there something wrong with light or contrast, You could tell me.

I've got many doubts when I'm doing my pictures, when I'm posting them , when I see, how many of people have watched/faved/comment on DA. That questions makes me so sad and sometimes I don't believe in my skills.
I feel a bit lost, so I decided to ask You for a road.

I'll be grateful, if You answer that journal and write some opinions. Or write opinions about certain pictures . I need some constructive critics and some advices, too. I hope I'll use that advices properly.

Maybe I should write more journal entries, but I don't have many idea what to write (or I'm just lazy).

Hello! I hope You all doing well.

For some time I'm doing my own blog, where I'm posting some things - mostly sketches, but sometimes some comments. I'm writing there only in Polish (let's say I'm not too good to share my thoughts with others in English, not yet), but one picture meant more than 1000 words (Japanese proverb).
